Salvador Duran is a Mexican driver who has enjoyed single-seater success on both sides of the Atlantic and is a former winner of the prestigious Daytona 24 Hours. After a short career in karting, Duran entered Formula Dodge National series in 2003 and finished second in the championship after securing two wins. In 2004, he competed in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and the Italian Formula Renault 2.0 where he ended the season with 115 points and three podium finishes. In 2005, Duran represented Team Mexico in the “World Cup of Motorsport” – A1GP – where he scored a double win at the US round of the Championship held at Laguna Seca and three more podium finishes. Duran dovetailed that season with a successful push at the British Formula 3 title. He won the championship with nine wins and 300 points. After a disappointing 2006 season that promised much but yielded no victories Duran moved on to Formula Renault 3.5 in 2007 alongside his continuing commitments in A1GP. It was also in 2007 when Duran scored the most high-profile victory of his career to date when he won the Daytona 24 Hours with Juan Pablo Montoya and Scott Pruett for Chip Ganassi Racing. Duran continued in Formula Renault 3.5 for 2008 where he finished ninth in the championship and enjoyed victory at the challenging Monaco round. After just a handful of Formula Renault 3.5 outings in 2009 and 2010, Duran returned to his home country where he raced in NASCAR Mexico until 2012.
